A proposed national settlement received preliminary approval from the Circuit Court, Twentieth Judicial Circuit, St. Clair County, Illinois on November 21, 2006, and a fairness hearing will be held on March 22, 2007 before the Honorable Robert P. LeChien. This hearing will be held to determine whether the proposed settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate.

Finkelstein Thompson LLP represents putative classes of consumers in state law consumer fraud actions brought against Sony alleging it knowingly marketed, distributed, and sold DVD players with a defective design.  These DVD players, model #s DVP-C650D, DVP-C670D, DVP-F21, DVP-NC600, DVP-NS315, DVP-NS400D, DVP-NS415, DVP-S300, DVP-S330, DVP-S350, DVP-S360, DVP-S363, DVP-S500D, DVP-S530D, DVP-S550D, DVP-S560D, DVP-S570D, allegedly contain a defective component and frequently exhibit symptoms such as picture freezing, chapter jumping, lip synch problems, pixilated images, C:13 and other assorted error messages.
