On July 7, 2009, Finkelstein Thompson LLP filed a nationwide putative class action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey against the several manufacturers of Baby Personal Care Products. The lawsuit alleges that the companies are manufacturing and marketing Baby Personal Care Products, such as soap and shampoo, without disclosing that the products contain formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane.  Both chemicals are considered probable carcinogens by the Environmental Protection Agency.  A March 2008 study, published by the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (CSC), found that the following Baby Personal Care Products contain formaldehyde and 1,4 dioxane:

  • Johnson & Johnson's® Baby Shampoo
  • Wal-Mart's - Equate Tearless Baby Wash
  • Proctor &Gambles' Pampers Kandoo Foaming Handsoap
