Finkelstein Thompson LLP is pleased to announce that it has named Michael G. McLellan as partner at the firm, effective January 1, 2012. Mr. McLellan represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex actions premised on alleged financial misconduct. He has appeared before multiple courts (at both the trial and appellate level), served on the trial teams of cases tried to verdict, and participated in evidence gathering on three different continents. Representative engagements include cases alleging breaches of fiduciary duty by corporate directors to shareholders, bid-rigging and price fixing in multiple industries, violations of state antitrust and consumer protection laws by pharmaceutical companies, and many others. He has also been responsible for investigating and initiating multiple cases, and has a particular interest in cases alleging horizontal conspiracies in violation of the antitrust laws. Mr. McLellan has spearheaded the firm's efforts in a number of cases, including In re Interbank Funding Corp. Securities Litigation, 02-1490 (D.D.C.), where Mr. McLellan presented oral argument to the United States Court of Appeal for the District of Columbia circuit. Mr. McLellan also recently successfully litigated a motion to dismiss on behalf of a small business accused of participating in a price-fixing cartel. Other cases in which Mr. McLellan played or is playing a significant role include Kamakahi v. American Society for Reproductive Medicine, et al., No. 11-1781 (N.D.Cal.) (alleging antitrust violations in the reproductive services industry), In re Online DVD Rental Litigation, MDL No. 09-2029 (N.D. Cal.) (alleging market division agreement in online DVD rental market), In re Intel Corporation Microprocessor Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 05-1717 (D. Del.) (alleging unlawful monopolization of microchip industry), and In re Insurance Brokerage Antitrust Litigation, MDL No. 04-1663 (D.N.J.) (alleging bid rigging in the insurance brokerage market). Mr. McLellan is a 2003 graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Law Review. He also received an LL.M., magna cum laude, from the American University Washington College of Law in 2004. He joined the firm in 2004 and is resident in the Washington, D.C. office. |
