Finkelstein Thompson LLP Investigates Potential Legal Claims By Toyota Owners

Recently, Toyota announced it was recalling and halting the sales of many of its most popular cars due to problems with unintended acceleration. Finkelstein Thompson LLP is investigating potential legal claims possessed by owners of those cars, including both those injured in accidents and those concerned about the reduced value of their cars.

According to published reports, the recall stems from “concerns that friction inside the gas pedal can cause it to stick in a depressed position.” Moreover, according to a recent Washington Post article, Toyota heard complaints about these problems for years, but “the company did not install ‘brake override’ systems in those vehicles.” Other news reports indicate a member of the United States Congress has estimated that “[s]udden acceleration of Toyota vehicles has been linked to 19 deaths in the past decade.”
