Stolen iPhone Investigation PDF Print E-mail
November 10, 2009

Finkelstein Thompson LLP is investigating claims that AT&T and Apple may have facilitated the creation of a market for lost or stolen iPhones that would not otherwise exist absent their conduct.

Our current investigation reveals that AT&T and Apple have the ability to deny unauthorized use of lost or stolen iPhones, but allegedly chooses to allow such activity.  AT&T and Apple refuse to "black-list" iPhones that have been reported as lost or stolen, but instead allow these lost or stolen phones to be re-activated on AT&Ts network.  Although this conduct may result in increased profits for AT&T and Apple, it may provide additional incentives for people to steal iPhones.
