Cadmium In Children’s Toys And Jewelry PDF Print E-mail

Finkelstein Thompson LLP is investigating allegations that toys and jewelry targeted for use by children contain significant amounts of Cadmium. 

According to the United States Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety & Health Administration, Cadmium is an extremely toxic metal commonly found in industrial workplaces and is sometimes used in the manufacturing of batteries.

According to various sources, the following toys and jewelry are believed to contain some amount of Cadmium

•    Dan Dee/MTY Intl Co. Ltd.’s Red Bear in White "Be Mine" Mug
•    Design International Group, Inc.’s Pumpkin Erasers
•    East West Distributing Co.’s Lighted Crystal Bear
•    Jada Toys, Inc.’s Bigtime Muscle '70 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
•    Justice League Unlimited’s Justice League "The Dark Knight" Baseball Glove
•    Learning Curve Brands, Inc.’ s Johnny Lightning 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser - Teal
•    Totally me!’s Dressy Rainbow Jewelry
•    Xhilaration’s heart shaped rhinestone necklace
•    Xhilaration’s star shaped rhinestone necklace

It is not presently known whether the amount of Cadmium contained in the above items arises to a level harmful to children or adults. Most recently the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of two different Princess and the Frog necklaces sold at WalMart retail stores nationwide due to their cadmium content.
