Cable Box Antitrust Investigation PDF Print E-mail
November 12, 2008

Finkelstein Thompson LLP is investigating allegations that cable television providers have been improperly bundling premium cable services with the rental of a cable box. If you have rented a cable box from a cable television provider, you may have been a victim of this practice.

According to complaints filed in various Federal District Courts, cable companies may have improperly forced consumers to rent cable boxes in order to access premium cable channels. In doing so, the cable companies may have stifled competition in the cable box industry and forced consumers to pay more in rental charges than what the box was actually worth.
