Securities and commodities defense

FT continues its long tradition of defending securities and commodities industry professionals and corporate officers in investigations, administrative proceedings, and litigation involving alleged violations of federal securities or commodities laws and related regulations. For example, FT recently successfully defended a corporate executive charged by the SEC with insider trading in the options of a high-tech company. After a trial in federal court involving complex issues of market timing and hedging with put and call options, all of the SEC charges were dismissed -- a rare victory in the current regulatory environment. See SEC v. Butler, 2005 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 7194, * 42 (W.D. Pa. 2005).
